@ConservativeGal on twitter has been making some very insightful posts.  I am in slight disagreement with her, though I think the general principle behind our thoughts is quite similar.  Here are some of her tweets (I’ve taken out the abbreviations that twitter makes necessary):

If a conservative decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it. A liberal demands that his neighbors pay for his.

If a conservative is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church. A liberal wants any mention of God or religion silenced.

If a conservative doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels. Liberals demand that those they don’t like be shut down

If a conservative is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation. A liberal wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a conservative is homosexual, they quietly enjoy their life. If a liberal is homosexual, they loudly demand legislated respect.

If a conservative is a vegetarian, they don’t eat meat. If a liberal is a vegetarian, they want to ban all meat products for everyone.

If a conservative doesn’t like guns, they don’t buy one. If a liberal doesn’t like guns, then no one should have one.

I am in 100% agreement with all of these statements, and I”m quite pleased with @ConservativeGal’s libertarian sentiments.  However, I’d like to add some issues that might find conservatives looking a lot like liberals:

If a libertarian disapproves of prostitution, he doesn’t hire prostitutes.  If a conservative disapproves of prostitution, he tries to throw prostitutes and their clients in jail.

If a libertarian doesn’t like marijuana, he doesn’t smoke it.  If a conservative doesn’t like marijuana, he starts a drug war.

If a libertarian doesn’t like gay marriage, he doesn’t get one.  If a conservative doesn’t like gay marriage, he fights to keep them illegal.

If a libertarian disapproves of buying Cuban cigars, he doesn’t buy Cuban cigars.  If a conservative disapproves of buying Cuban cigars, he outlaws them and enacts a trade embargo. (yes, I know JFK started it, but conservatives tend to like it.)

If a libertarian doesn’t like methodone maintenence clinics, he doesn’t go to one or open one.  If a conservative doesn’t like methodone maintenence clinics, he tries to shut them down.

If a libertarian doesn’t like porn, he doesn’t visit porn sites or porn shops.  If a conservative doesn’t like porn, he tries to shut down such websites and close such stores.

If a libertarian doesn’t like gambling, he doesn’t gamble.  If a conservative doesn’t like gambling, he tries to outlaw it.

Let me be very clear:  conservatives are the closest allies libertarians have these days, but they aren’t libertarians.  Id’ be very interested to hear the opinions of conservatives on this matter…

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is scary^3!  The American Association of Physicians and Surgeons has put together a summary of some of the provisions in the Bacchus bill, and if they don’t scare you, you don’t have an amygdala!

Here are some of the provisions that they hilight:

  • Capitation will become the dominant mode of payment.
  • Doctors would have to be a “Medicare-enrolled physician” to order services that would result in any cost to the Medicare program.
  • Doctors will be penalized for going over budget, and no statistically valid samples will be used. At the same time, the cost of procedures and devices they order will be driven up by taxes.
  • Doctors will be made to pay $350 each into a fund to pay for “screening” programs to cover unannounced and random site visits to check for “waste, fraud, and abuse.” Doctors may be prevented from practicing in a “fraud-prone” specialty, or required to put up a $500,000 surety bond.

The consequences of these provisions will have real human costs.  People will die because of these provisions.

To make everyone equal, you’ve got to reduce them all to the lowest common denomenator….

Someone is up to something really, really insidious.  They are indoctrinating children with socialist ideas, but even worse, they’re teaching them to be cheerleaders for political leaders.  Children should be taught how to think for themselves, not be taught to cheer for a politician like he’s some sort of hero.

This isn’t the first time the Obama camp has been up to this nasty stuff.  During the campaign they had a video of children singing for him that became quite controversial.  ReasonTV took their music video and added some images to elucidate the true meaning:

Let us not forget that the initial study plan put forth by the Department of Education following Obama’s speech to kids starting school called for them to write letters to themselves about how they can “help the President.”

This is creepy and sinister.  Anyone who would indoctrinate children into this ideology doesn’t have the best interests of said children in mind.  Children cannot grow up to become free adults unless they are taught to think critically and form their own opinions.

Shame on those involved in this scheme!

During a police raid in Tampa, detectives decided they needed to enjoy themselves…so they started playing Wii!  What buffoons!  The worst part of this is:  their behavior could invalidate all of the evidence they gathered!

Attorney Rick Escobar, who is not connected in any way to the case, suggest that this might void the search warrant:

“The real question here is have they seized property that wasn’t described in the search warrant?” Escobar asked. “Clearly if they’re using it, they’ve seized it and for totally improper purposes, because it’s for entertainment. Investigations are not for entertainment.”"The real question here is have they seized property that wasn’t described in the search warrant?” Escobar asked. “Clearly if they’re using it, they’ve seized it and for totally improper purposes, because it’s for entertainment. Investigations are not for entertainment.”

Can we have a little bit of professionalism, please?
