Welcome to my blog! My name is Kyle Varner, and I am delighted that you’ve decided to read my blog.
Here is a little bit about myself:
I’m 23 years old, an American citizen, and I live in Antigua, a small island in the eastern Caribbean.
I’m a student at the American University of Antigua College of medicine, and I am very interested in making a career of neurology. I think that the way that the human brain and the nerves of the body operate is one of the most fascinating topics of study in existence. Obviously, I’ll have to wait until my clinical rotations to make a firm decision on what specialty to pursue, and I may indeed find something more interesting. For now, neuroscience is something akin to a hobby of mine.
Here is a little bit about my past and my interests. I attended St. John’s College in Annapolis, and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts. This is equivalent to a double major in Philosophy and the History of Math and Science.
For my senior essay, I wrote about Aristotle’s view of friendship with a specific emphasis on how friendship contributes to one’s happiness.
I continue to be very interested in philosophy; I am also 100% disinterested in the Ivory Tower. I spent four years there, and jumped out with a parachute.
The ideas that most influence the way I live my life come from Aristotle and Ayn Rand. I am also keenly interested in the political ideas of John Locke and other classical liberal thinkers. I’ve been studying Mises when I have the time, which, admittedly is rare, but it is an area of interest that I intend to explore further when I have the opportunity.
Here in Antigua, when I’m not studying, I like to go to the beach and play pool. There isn’t much else to do here besides that and binge drinking, and I’ve outgrown the binge drinking stage of my life. These days, I like a good glass of wine, and I eschew any alcohol that comes out of a plastic jug.
I like hot weather, the ocean and sunshine, and I don’t intend to ever live anywhere without these three things!

One more thing: I worked very hard on the Ron Paul for President Campaign. I am very pleased with the progress that we made. I also came to understand that the Republican Party is not going to bring change to America. If we want to win back our freedom, it must be done through the Libertarian Party. The pen is mightier than the sword, and I have complete confidence that the ideas of freedom will continue to spread far and wide.
I am now supporting Bob Barr for President (www.bobbarr2008.com). I will do everything in my power to help him get the message of freedom out to as many people as he can. I hope you will join us!
