I’ll begin by saying that episode ten is by far the BEST Dexter episode ever. Lots of people wondered whether the writers would develop excellent plots on their own without the books to guide them, and they have proven not only that they can but that they are REALLY REALLY GOOD AT IT. This episode had me on the edge of my chair for forty minutes. Very few television shows or movies accomplish this feat.
Many Dexter fans expect the return of Lila, and I am among them. Here is why:
First (obviously, if she is to return) it is not entirely clear that Lila is dead. The scene in which Dexter killed Lila could very well have been a dream. This is bolstered by the fact that he gives her an epidural block before chopping her up. We know Dexter is a med school dropout, and while in the first semester of medical school one learns how, in theory, to perform an epidural block, I doubt any of us could go out on our own and just do it successfully. If anyone could, it would be Dexter, but if he were to pull it off it would represent a gaping plot hole. The prevailing theory is that Dexter’s kill of Lila was a dream.

Secondly, and more importantly, Lila is not in Dexter’s Victim Files. This is very compelling. Everyone is there. Dexter puts blood on everyone’s slide. Why not Lila? I can think of no explanation consistent with Dexter’s psychology and general modus operendi. The Dexter Wiki at Showtime’s website has a post speculating that Dexter isn’t dead:
4. I’ve pitched the idea in two other threads that I’m not convinced she is dead … I suspect a “dream” based on Dexter’s desire to clean things up … why?
a. different lighting … half the show is shot in the dark, but this had a film-noir quality that was a different production dynamic;
b. the obvious reasons — how did he find her so quick? how did he leave the country and return without his absence getting discussed and queried by Deb and others?

Lastly, on Wikipedia’s List of Dexter Episodes, the last episode is described:
Miguel’s out of the picture, but his unstable brother Ramon still poses a threat to Dexter; a potentially fatal surprise could imperil Dexter’s impending nuptials to Rita; Debra learns she’s in line to get her detective’s shield, but troublesome news could tarnish her promotion.
A surprise can’t come from Ramon Prado. Anything nasty that he does is simply not surprising. I think that we will see a hot British lady shock everyone with her return!
At the end of episode eight, Miguel Prado goes to Ellen Wolfe’s house. He knocks on the door, she answers, and he steps in. The viewer isn’t sure whether he forces his way in or whether this is usual. We wonder: is he there to kill her, or just to fuck her?
My money is on kill her. Here is why:
Prado’s wife Silvia tells Rita in an earlier episode that Miguel has been distant and staying away late since his brother was killed. If Prado were having an affair with Wolfe, it would likely have been going on for some time; not just since his brother was murdered. In fact, that would seem like a very unlikely time to start an affair.
We also know Prado wants her dead; in an earlier episode he asks Dexter to kill her. Moreover, we now know that Prado enjoys killing. Everything is set up perfectly for him to go and off Ms. Wolfe.
Spoiler TV has two clips from the next episode. These clips lead me to conclude that it is likely that Wolfe has gone missing and that it is likely that Prado killed Wolfe. Of course, we can’t be sure from these clips, and I’d actually be pretty disappointed with the Dexter production team if these clips weren’t misleading.
I have reservations about this, though: it is unlikely that Dexter would continue to work with Prado if he were to know that Prado killed Wolfe, and we know that Dexter does continue to work with Prado. If Prado did kill Wolfe, there is only one way for this season to end: Dexter must kill Prado. I am not so sure that this is the way the writers want this season to end; it is simply too cliche (I don’t know how to type an accent into wordpress and I’m lazy. Deal with it.)
I’d say that there is a 75% chance that Prado kills Wolfe, and a 25% chance that he is fucking her. The latter would be far better for the plot of the show, but the former just seems much more likely. If only someone would put episode nine online before it airs next week….
