There is a great deal of excitement about the Senate race in Massachusetts.  State Sen. Scott Brown appears within striking distance of Attorney General Martha Coakley.  Brown promises to the be 41st vote in the Senate to defeat Obamacare.  Tea Party activists are energized and excited; unfortunately we’re being sold a false bill of goods by the Brown campaign.

Make no mistake ladies and gentlemen:  Scott Brown is no friend of liberty, no ally of doctors and his election won’t stop Obamacare.  His election will, instead, tell Republican leadership that the tea party movement isn’t serious and can be manipulated.  In 2010 they’ll field and support the same type of Big Government Republicans who gave us Medicare Part D.

The only argument for voting for Scott Brown that holds water with me is that he could be the 41st vote against Obamacare.  This is unlikely, to say the least.   If Brown wins on Jan 20th, Nancy Pelosi will likely accept what’s in the Senate Bill and it will be sent to President Obama for his signature of doom before Brown ever sets foot in Washington, DC.  So much for stopping Obamacare!

Brown’s record would make any Democrat proud.  He campaigned against repealing the Massachusetts State Income Tax.   He voted FOR the Northeastern States Cap and Trade Law.  He voted for RomneyCare.  On Fox News with Sean Hannity, Brown said, “I believe every American is entitled to health care.”  Of course, what he means is that he believes taxpayers should pay for every American’s health care.

Obamacare is only the tip of the iceberg.  If we defeat this bill, they’ll try to pass it piece by piece.  Their goal is a single-payer system where doctors take their marching orders from a central agency who determines who lives and who dies.  This fight isn’t just about this one bill.   This is a long term fight, and we need staunch—not lukewarm—allies in congress.  The Republicans must be punished for nominating Scott Brown.  He needs to lose, and it needs to be abundantly clear that Joe Kennedy, the libertarian-independent, cost him his victory.  Only punishment at the polls will make the Republican leadership listen to us, and start moving their party in the direction of smaller government.
